“A Felabration with Kujenga and Friends” takes over Hearty Collective in Woodstock.
The event marks the city’s contribution to Felabration, the global annual celebration of Fela Kuti’s enduring influence, now in its 25th year. Curated as an immersive cultural showcase, the Cape Town edition promises a night of live music, community, and Pan-African spirit.
The event is presented by The Remedy, a Cape Town-based creative collective with a reputation for thoughtful cultural programming. Known for curating exhibitions, workshops, and music-led gatherings that centre local entrepreneurship and community connection, The Remedy brings a grounded sensibility to Felabration; one that prioritises authenticity and creative exchange.
Headlining the night is Kujenga, the acclaimed Cape Town jazz collective whose upcoming EP will be launched during the event. Joining them is Operation Khataza, a 10-piece tribute band honouring Fela’s sonic legacy, alongside DJ sets from Kolade Arogundade (The Drawing Room) and Candice Horn, aka CandyFlip (The Commons). Together, the lineup reflects a dynamic cross-section of local talent committed to the transformative power of music.
In the spirit of Fela Kuti’s belief that music is a tool for resistance and unity, this Felabration invites audiences to not only celebrate but to engage, deeply and joyfully, with Africa’s rich artistic traditions. It’s more than a concert; it’s a cultural moment.
