Over the past weekend, Grammy Award winning singer – song writer Manana, who has won over the hearts of music lovers with his sonically rich R&B & Jazz tunes gaining a cult like following and co-sign from the legendary Black Coffee, hosted a live performance at The Leano restaurant. The imitate musical affair treated guests to a show featuring the artist’s popular hits and a teaser of two unreleased songs.

We were lucky enough to catch the live performance which is best encapsulated as a sweet, imitate evening filled with electric energy and hearty food.

The crowd waited for the artist engaging in some enthusiastic chit chat. The vibe completely changed as soon as the artist and the live band graced the stage where cheers and applauds erupted as a warm greeting to Manana and his team.

The act opened the show with, “Euphoria” a wistful love song expressing an intense yearning of attachment experinced between two lovers. Manana then cued in his song, “Sunday Morning” which features R&B singer Rolene, who unfortunately was not in attendance — however that was no issue as Manana proceeded to give a steller rendition. A particularity heart warming moment in the evening was when Manana performed his newest single, “I can’t believe I get to call you mine” on the piano which is a song of admiration and appreciation dedicated to his wife.

Although Manana, delivered a constantly astonishing performance, one of the highlights of the evening was when he cued his hit song, “Mina Nawe” which is when the crowd quite literally went wild and erupted in a sing along with the artist, chanting the African folk song sampled in the song.

Whilst Manana and his band took a short break during the interval, guests got a moment to line their stomaches with traditional South African cuisine. On the menu was a range of dishes which brought the feelng of home into the restaurant. We had tried the chicken gizzards and samp which we’ll rate an honest 7,5 out of 10 via taste and presentation. Overall, based on the criteria of atmosphere, food and most importantly musical sound, the night was  a wonderful experience filled with overwhelmingly magnetic energy.

To stay tuned on Manana’s next moves and performances, follow his official social media accounts and if you are interested in catching a few live performances over this festive holiday period, follow the Banda Banda Agency or The Leano official social media account’s for live show announcements.
