Upcoming film director Sanaa Mothabisa to showcase his upcoming film, ‘Zion’

South African film director Sanaa Mothabisa announced the debut of his feature film Zion on 1 December at the Mangrove, Johannesburg.  Mothabisa posted a trailer of the film on his official  Instagram account accompanied with a couple of stills from the motion picture. In an Instagram post the director penned a short synopsis of the film. Mothabisa describes the film as a sequence of events that unfold after protagonist Nomusa Dingane looses her mother and, ‘begins to question the existence of God and thus goes on a quest to pave her spiritual path and rediscover God.’

‘The question of God has been one which many people have aimed to answer for decades. It has given birth to many theories, debates, religious clashes and even wars.’ reads the synopsis. The director continues to ask the burning question that leads to endless conflict riddled debates —  ‘If God created many different people, why would He allow only one way to serve him?’.

Mothabisa shared the itinerary of the two day film screening to be hosted at the Mangrove in central Johannesburg. Day one is the opening show entitled, ‘The Genesis’.  This day will  incorporate a Process Documentary about the Zion Shortfilm, Visual Art performance & The Shortfilm Screening. – Directed by Sanaa Mothabisa.

This day is said to feature a Recap and Conversations session about Zion which will see the artists express the journey they experienced on the film set, focusing on a conversation surrounding the details of the project. This day will also offer a Q&A from the audience.
