A group of South African fashion designers will take the spotlight at the Shanghai Fashion Week (SHFW). Running from March 25 to 29, this event in Shanghai, China, is one of the biggest fashion gatherings in Asia.

A  lineup of designers will represent South Africa, including Rich Mnisi, David Tlale, Mzukisi Mbane from Imprint ZA, Palesa Mokubung from Mantsho, and Jessica Jane from Molebatsi. They will be part of the “Africa Reimagined Showroom,” which features over 20 African fashion brands. This showroom is curated by Development Reimagined (DR), a respected African-led consultancy focused on international development.

Shanghai Fashion Week has quickly become a hotspot for buyers, fashion influencers, and media, giving South African designers a fantastic chance to reach a global audience.

Tshepiso Malele, who represents Brand South Africa in China, said, “Our designers show a side of South Africa that is changing the global fashion story.” This event is about showing the world the talent and creativity that South Africa has to offer.

The South African designers will connect with international buyers and media through runway shows, trade exhibitions, and special events. This is an important step for South Africa as it aims to promote its creative industries, like fashion, as key parts of economic growth and cultural exchange.
