Did you hear Brown Skin Girl, a song Anatii contributed to, won a Grammy Award?
Put your hands together, ululate, dance, do something celebratory because Anatii’s work was applauded by the Grammys. The South African singer-songwriter Anatii’s contribution to Brown Skin Girl has been honoured before by the Soul Train Music Awards. And now, the song he wrote together with Beyoncé and Wizkid, won a Grammy award last night.
The aesthetic expression that accompanied the song in the film Black Is King reflects what his win means. Black Is King as well as Brown Skin Girl itself sent the message that we, in all our beauty, are deserving of everything that we are gifted and blessed with therefore his win is well-deserved. It is a reflection of the message behind his own work.
What he wrote is beautiful so seeing the beauty in his words being celebrated is in itself beautiful.
May his excellence continue to be acknowledged and honoured.
