“Jerusalema” duo Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode have reached a new peak on the Shazam Global Top 200 at No. 4 this week, having gained 6 positions since last week.
“It is a dream come true for ‘Jerusalema’ to be Top 4 on the Shazam Global chart. I have always adored other artist being in the chart and now it is my turn…really exciting moments. If it was not for Shazam, I don’t think people around the world will easily discover my songs,” said Master KG.
Master KG was first Shazamed in South Africa in February 2018, with “Skeleton Move”. Since then, he has been Shazamed across the world and, to date, he has been most-Shazamed in South Africa, Nigeria, France, Italy and Zambia.
Master KG also told Apple Music about his hometown, Limpopo in an interview on Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio with Cuppy.
“They’re so proud. They saw me going around the world winning awards. It was a big thing for the province. Because Limpopo, in terms of the music, we never had that thing of dominating the countries of Africa. But ever since I came and the other guys came, it’s been a game changer. You know? So, we are making them proud.”
Excluding syncs, songs featured on movies, TV shows, ads, etc. the song gained more Shazams than any other track week-on-week. “Jerusalema” has charted in 26 different countries and there has been an uplift in Shazams of the song in Europe this summer, with users in France Shazaming the song the most.
The “Jerusalema (Remix)” with Burna Boy is currently No. 45 Globally and has charted in 26 different countries.
