Wizkid Set to Headline Friends of Amstel Festival
Nigerian “Star Boy” Wizkid is touching down in South Africa to perform at Amstel Lager’s, Friends of Amstel festival in Johannesburg this Saturday, 4 December. Amstel kicked off with an explosive social media promotion of the event which has been duded as a, “timeless line-up of local and international talent, a great setting, good food and of course the timeless taste of Amstel.”
Leading South African artists Focalisitic, Dbn Gogo and Le Soul will reunite with the Grammy Award winning artist. There will also be an addition of some new faces. The previous edition of the annual music festival was a virtual affair that ran weekly performances every Saturday on Channel O. With performances streamed and broadcasted to fans’ screens.
However this year’s edition is a completely different ball game. This time around Friends of Amstel will be taking place in a physical capacity. However the world renewed brew has remained pretty aloof about the location details. With regards to the headlining act, Wizkid has previously expressed his appreciation for his South African fan base. Wizkid says, “I love South Africa. I am grateful for the support my fans give me and we are going to turn up together.”
Considering the widely successful reception of Wizkid’s fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, and profusion of the hottest local artists that will be featured at the event, there is no doubt that patrons will be treated to a spectacular musical experience.
