Attention all artists ! Have you ever envisioned your artwork living on the walls of Johannesburg ? If so, Grand-Pa has set up an epic wall mural art challenge where four lucky artists will have their artworks featured on the walls of the city’s most popular destinations.
Grand-Pa has launched the new design of the trusted Grand-Pa headache powders in a new stick pack. The pharmaceutical powder used to relieve mild to moderate pains, that has become a heritage brand for many South African’s, is now available in a new, sleek design packaging for ease of consumption, with the same trusted product inside.
To celebrate the introduction of its new stick pack, Grand-Pa is launching a competition called the #GrandPaArtChallenge which is calling unto artists to create a design that interprets the theme of Grand-pa’s new stick pack message “Shake It. Break It. Take It” that will be featured as a wall mural.

Grand-Pa is calling artists to create a Grand-Pa “Shake It. Break It. Take It” inspired wall mural in celebration of the introduction of their new stick pack.
Participants will be judged by well renowned visual artists Fhatuwani Mukheli, Nene Mahlangu and Sindiso Nyoni
Ten artworks will be short-listed and the top four designs will then be selected for the wall mural painting process.
The wall mural painting process will be video documented and turned into a short-film series where the short-listed artists will share their journey as an aspiring visual artist.
The top four selected artists will each be rewarded R5000.00 and will have the opportunity to paint a wall mural at four different township locations.

Meet your #GrandPaArtChallenge judges
Fhatuwani Mukheli
Visual artist, photographer, filmmaker, art director and co-founder of ‘I See a Different You’. Fhatuwani’s work is highly influenced by mixed media, fine arts, realism, crosshatch, and design. Mukheli has established a reputation of being an innovator in the fields of Art, Film, Entrepreneurship and Art-influence. He prides himself in telling African stories through a contemporary lens.
Nene Mahlangu
This bright young artist made her international art fair debut by exhibiting work at the Venice International Art Fair in 2020, who in the same year, was selected as the Arts & Culture Trust, ImpACT Award Finalist. Mahlangu has been listed as one of Mail and Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans in 2020. 2022 became the year where Mahlangu fulfilled the role as the lead visual artist for the Grammy award winning DJ and producer Black Coffee’s HiIbiza residency, creating 22 artwork for the project.
Sindiso “R!OT” Nyoni
Zimbabwean born illustrator Sindiso Nyoni, also known as R!OT, is a self developed Graphic artist who has been described as a contemporary illustrator, activist, street-artist, and multi-disciplinary graphic designer. R!OT has exhibited at International Biennial Poster Exhibitions and he has collaborated on projects which have won Cannes Lion awards. R!OT boasts an impressive list of collocations with brands as such Hennessy (France),The South African Mint (SA), Universal Pictures (US), FIFA (Switzerland),Nike Sportswear (South Africa) Adidas Football (Netherlands) and Netflix (Africa).
