Nando’s kick off the second instalment of the Basha in Casa music showcase with music maverick Langa Mavuso
Last month, Nando’s kicked off Youth Month celebrations with a showcase of local music talent at Maponya Mall. It was the first of many events by the brand combining the arts, food and youthful conversations in a laid back setting. The first Basha in Casa showcase took place in June at Nando’s Maponya Mall in Soweto where guests were treated to live performances by three incredible music talents Sio, Wenawedwa, and Aymos. The event was such a great success that Nando’s came back with a second instalment spotlighting the budding creativity of today’s youth.

On Sunday, 17 July 2022, the Nando’s Basha in Casa at Maponya Mall featured an impressive line-up with performances by Khan Khalii, Muneyi, Langa Mavuso, and Nandoca Uhurus. The day was nothing short of refreshing. In true Basha in Casa fashion, Nando’s had a group of musical forces grace the stage and serenade the crowd with a live band. The event was open to the public and drew a significant crowd.
R&B/Pop sensation Khan Khalii kicked off the afternoon with a medley of her most popular tunes. Venda Folk singer and “Makhulu” songwriter Muneyi strummed away on his guitar and bellowed heartfelt lyrics at the amazement of the audience.
The afternoon commenced with a bang, as the SAMA nominated, R&B/Soul headliner Langa Mavuso serenaded guests by performing his hit-songs Sunday Blues and Mvula. Langa’s performance felt personal to a point where he playfully jumped into the crowd, giving a fellow fan a tight embrace.
“At Nando’s, we run an internal talent search competition called Nandoca Uhurus, and we’ve discovered that not only do our people serve up the best PERi-PERi chicken, but we also have a wealth of creative talent in the Nando’s family,” says Kirsty Niehaus Marketing Manager: Internal Brand Experience and Creativity portfolio Manager at Nando’s.
This one of a kind experience allowed guests to tuck into their favourite meals, including delicious platters and refreshing designer drinks, while enjoying sweet melodies from local musicians. An all-around relaxed vibe.
“We’re thrilled to have done this again! Basha in Casa has allowed us to celebrate together as South Africans whilst offering a platform to young artists. We look forward to continuing to share this unique dining experience with our guests. – Nontobeko Sibiya, Marketing Manager: Communications at Nandos.
Thankfully, it doesn’t end there ! The next Basha in Casa showcase will be taking place on Sunday, 21 August 2022 at Nando’s Maponya Mall. You most certainly won’t want to miss it as a very exciting headliner is expected to make things shake.
