The 2021 Portrait Award by Rust en Vrede Gallery
Portraiture has played an incredibly significant role in art. It has shaped movements and has opened the doors for artistic expression and narration countless times. Many of us first learn to draw faces. We are taught to use lines to portray the one thing we see daily, a face. And some of us develop this skill and are able to add texture, tone and form to create faces that portray more than just facial features. If you are one of those people who excel in the creation of portraiture, there is an award with your name ingrained on it.
The Award turns 8 years old this year and seeks to find a portrait that portrays the essence of portraiture. It is sponsored by Sanlam Private Wealth and is open to artists over the age of 18.
Entries open on the 1st of June 2021 and close on the 12th of June 2021.
