Advertising and production publication IDIDTHAT.co plays a pivotal role in connecting the world of adverting to the South African audience. In an effort to spotlight the vast and often undervalued talent of key players in the adverting and production industry that happen to be woman and non-binary (NB) persons, the publication released a short list of woman and non-binary film directors to look out for in a series entitled SHEDIDTHAT. As it is no secret: the production industry is prominently male dominated and there is a shared understanding that a lack of female perspective creates warped and derogatory stereotypes of woman and queer folk, especially non-gender conforming persons, which fundamentally is a huge problem. To see woman and NB people being celebrated the steep into a a transformation within industry that will smash the systems of sexism and discrimination into a smouldering peril.
