Turbine Art Fair (TAF) is a unique South African art fair that brings together galleries, artists and curators from around the country to showcase and sell contemporary art.
Founded in 2013 by The Forum Company, TAF was the first accessible and affordable South African art fair aimed at small scale and emerging galleries as well as emerging artists and collectors, working toward growing the market for South African Contemporary art.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been decided reschedule TAF 21 to 30 September – 3October 2021. “The last year and a half has been one we will never forget! We have all be so isolated from each other and the amazing experiences normally on offer throughout the year. We believe art needs to be viewed and enjoyed in person. As a result, we have decided to move TAF to October in the hope that the third wave passes and South Africans of all ages groups have been able to get vaccinated. TAF is not just an art fair but a lifestyle experience and we hope that by moving the dates we will be able to bring a much-needed cultural experience to Jozi” says Glynis Hyslop, Founder of Turbine Art Fair
The 9th edition of Turbine Art Fair – TAF ARCADE, a new hybrid fair of online viewing rooms and exhibition space will take place at 10 Fricker Road Illovo.
TAF is also excited to announce a new partnership with Artsy, the world’s largest online art marketplace. Artsy believes that the process of buying art should be as brilliant as art itself. “We believe that this partnership is a perfect fit with our vision to showcase artists and grow the market for African art as well as elevate art collecting across a wider market” adds Hyslop.
The 2021 program, themed Evergreen (having an enduring freshness/ retaining freshness) will showcase a selection of art exhibitions by South African and Southern African galleries, collectives, art dealers, creative project spaces, designers as well as specially curated exhibitions.
