CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: 2nd Cycle of Applications 2021
After a successful launch last year, The Write Project is pleased to announce that the call for submissions are now open for its second application cycle of its multi million film fund.
Independent filmmakers face numerous challenges in financing and distributing their productions. The main goal of The Write Project is to boost Africa’s entrepreneurial creativity in the film industry by creating new jobs as the continent prepares for massive demographic waves. Our objective is to bring film investments and film projects to Africa, encourage the production of professional audiovisual works and promote international co-production.
The concept for The Write Project is to seek out remarkable screenwriters and filmmakers who have the potential to succeed on the global stage, but also to develop aspiring filmmakers from around Africa with an opportunity to make a film project in collaboration with our creative team and other distinguished industry professionals.
Submit an application for the following eligible film projects:
- Feature Films: We are looking for completed scripts in all genres or a fully packaged project seeking production finance.
- Short Films: Short filmmaking is in the midst of a renaissance. We are looking for 15 – 30 aspirant filmmakers who will be offered the opportunity to develop a short-form script for production. All it takes to apply is 300 words!
- Documentaries: We are looking for documentary scripts. This doesn’t have to be a completed script. A treatment or any other pitch document that shows the project’s potential can be submitted.
- TV Series: We are looking for completed TV scripts written on spec for an original show you’ve created from scratch. We also accept web series, non-traditional series pilots as well as reality television concepts that display originality, vision and exceptional potential.
Submissions opened on March 1st, 2021. The regular deadline for submissions are midnight on the 31st of May 2021, with an expanded late deadline of 30 June 2021.
