In a world where art has the power to challenge societal norms and ignite conversations, Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi stands out as a remarkable artist whose works speaks volumes about identity, racial visibility, and the complexities of the human experience. With her approach and thought-provoking creations, Thenjiwe has become an influential figure in contemporary art, both in her home country of South Africa and internationally.

Born into a family involved in the fight against white supremacy, Thenjiwe’s life was marked by the stark realities of racial inequality in both South Africa and the United States. Her parents activism and their candid discussions about the systemic racism influenced her worldview.

Upon returning to South Africa after the end of apartheid, Nkosi witnessed a surge of artistic expression as the country embraced newfound freedom. It was during this  period that she realized art could be her voice. Today, based in Johannesburg, Thenjiwe’s flourishing art practice revolves around social projects and collaborations.
