Calling all aspiring fashion designers! The anticipated Mr Price New Talent Search, hosted by SAFW, is now open for entries. The competition is aimed at ladies wear designers with businesses based in South Africa, whose brands are under 10 years old.
If you meet the requirements, this could be your chance to showcase your talent and take your career to new heights. The competition is looking for designers who have are ahead of fashion trends, particularly those that will shape the year 2024. Additionally, sustainability is a key focus, so your portfolio must consist of sustainable garments made from eco-friendly fabrics that can be up-cycled.
Once you’ve submitted your application, you will have the opportunity to make it to the semi-finals, where you will meet the panel of judges. This is a great chance to receive valuable feedback and gain exposure in the industry.

For the lucky finalists, the rewards are plentiful. The winner of the Mr Price New Talent Search will not only walk away with a generous cash prize of R50,000 but also have the opportunity to design and produce a limited-edition range in collaboration with Mr Price. This collection will be sold online and in selected stores.
In addition to these exciting prospects, the winner will also participate in the Mr Price Head Office mentorship program. This experience will provide insights into various departments at Mr Price, ranging from merchandising to marketing.
But the rewards don’t stop there. The winner will also be invited to be part of the 2024 New Talent Search show one year later, valued at R12,500. This means you’ll have the chance to showcase your talent once again and potentially attract even more attention from fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders.

Even if you don’t come out on top, being a finalist in the Mr Price New Talent Search has its perks. All finalists will receive a free stand at the SAFW Designer Pop-Up, valued at R6,000. Furthermore, all finalists will be granted a free stand at the SS24 Trade Show, where they can conduct market research and sell their creations to boutiques, department stores, and online retailers.
