Theo Baloyi is making an impact in the fashion world with his brand, Bathu. Last year, he opened the 35th Bathu store in Windhoek, Namibia, marking a step in the brand’s growth. Bathu has expanded into a group with five subsidiaries: Flowers For Society, Boys Of Soweto, Monosi Sneakers, Avenue Exchange, and Baka.

At the Bathu Annual Conference 2025 in Sun City, Theo shared his ambitious plans for the future. The CEOs of the subsidiaries joined him to discuss their visions and how they can work together. One notable leader is Vusumuzi Ndima, also known as Bob The Stylist, who heads Boys of Soweto. This luxury brand has grown from selling t-shirts and jerseys to opening full retail stores.

Ndima believes that creativity is important, but a solid business plan is essential for success. He sees Bathu as the ideal partner because of their proven success. Since 2015, Bathu has opened 35 stores and created many jobs. Ndima wants Boys of Soweto to thrive, not just as a creative brand but as a sustainable business.

For Ndima, this partnership is about more than just business. He values Bathu’s commitment to the community, especially their efforts to provide school shoes for children. “It’s not just about making money; it’s about uplifting our community,” he says.

Despite this collaboration, Ndima is clear that Boys of Soweto will keep its identity. After spending time with Bathu’s leadership, he found that their values align closely with his own. He believes this partnership will strengthen Boys of Soweto, not change it.

Looking to the future, Boys of Soweto plans to make a bigger impact in the fashion industry. While they will participate in traditional events like SA Fashion Week, they also plan to create their own fashion shows to showcase their vision.

With this strategic partnership, Boys of Soweto is not just growing; it is securing a bright future in the ever-changing world of fashion.

On the other hand, Bathu Group is committed to innovation, collaboration, and making a positive impact in the community while expanding its reach in the fashion world.
