In a world where moments are fleeting and memories fade, there are few photographers who possess the magical ability to capture the essence of life through their lens. They see the world in a way that others don’t, finding beauty in the mundane and weaving stories with every click of the shutter. Among these gifted photographers, one name stands out, Kgomotso Neto Tleane, a photographer who has risen to the pinnacle of success in the industry through sheer talent, passion, and unwavering determination.
With an eye that sees beyond the surface and a humble heart that beats for the art, this maestro of the camera has carved his own path, leaving an indelible mark in the world of photography.
As we honour him with a cover story and interview for the month of May, we can’t help but be star-struck while looking back at the work this man has done in the creatives industry.
You can tell by the look of his previous work that Kgomotso’s photographs are a visual feast for the eyes, a symphony of colors and emotions that stir the soul. They speak volumes without uttering a single word, like a picture is worth a thousand words. They’re like a breath of fresh air, a sight for sore eyes, a window into a world that’s both familiar and yet undiscovered.
With his trusty camera in hand, he sets out on a photographic odyssey, armed with a keen eye for detail and an insatiable hunger for the perfect shot. His passion for photography runs deep, and he’s always on the lookout for the next frame-worthy moment to freeze in time.
Kgomotso has done well for his career, he has explored different different cities and town through his work and has even traveled to New York to be reviewed by industry giants and was the official photographer for Afropunk in 2019. Kgomotso has a huge portfolio of work previously done that includes names like Wanda Lephoto, Coca Cola, Bantu Space Odyssey and many more. This is the same man who once showcased his work at Bree Street taxi rank where people he has photographed familiarized themselves with the images and be able to interact with the work.
His most recent work, our personal favourite, is the Msaki and Tubatsi Mpho Moloi collaboration for @noformatrecords… Now that’s genius!
We sat down with the camera maverick to understand how he works and what his motto is and for a man whose work looks so complex, it is quite easy.
Embrace the power of your potential by giving your best in everything you do. It’s not about being perfect, but about putting in your utmost effort and striving for excellence. Your best today can lead to a brighter tomorrow”
One of the biggest lessons we took from the interview we had with him is the fact that life is like a camera: focus on the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don’t work out, take another shot.
