The iconic Italian brand known for churning out superior denim apparel is back with another addition of a ‘self collaboration’ venture. Last year the brand debuted a capsule collection called Diesel x Diesel that rethinks its signature pieces. Inspired by the brand’s heritage, the creative offering saw Diesel creative director Glenn Martens and president and founder Renzo Rosso, team up to deliver a collaboration that was the perfect marriage of irony and quality denim.
The second chapter of Diesel x Diesel capsule collection releases in stores from Friday, 25 February 2022, exclusively at the Sandton and V&A Waterfront stores.
The capsule is the innovative—and ironic—brainchild of creative director, Glenn Martens. With this line, Martens looks to iconic heritage pieces from Diesel’s history while updating them for today’s fashion trends. It’s a cross-decade collaboration between the then-and-now.
In the second chapter, there is a focus on the brand’s core pillars: Pop sports-wear and technical workwear. There’s also a distinct nod to the 1990’s, with a majority of the remixed garments originating in this decade.
The workwear inspired collection, features a cotton canvas coat (referencing a garment from 1994 and 1995) is reimagined with corduroy and tape details, while loose-fitting denim from 1991 (with a minimalist pocket corner flap) is updated for 2022. Likewise, a nylon skirt from 1995 and 1996, and others.
In total, there are 9 pieces in the second installment; and most of the items are designed for all genders. The range is available to shop from the 25th of February 2022 exclusively at Sandton and V&A Waterfront DIESEL stores.
