Goodman Gallery is excited to present the upcoming exhibition ‘Exit Wounds’ featuring the recent paintings of Zimbabwean artist, Misheck Masamvu. This exhibition will be held in New York starting on the 3rd of September and will run until the 19th of October 2024.
Masamvu, born in 1980 in Zimbabwe, is part of a group of artists who were influenced by the struggles for independence. Through his artworks, he looks into themes of the past while seeking a way to exist in the present world. His style combines diverse colours, expressive brushwork, and dynamic compositions that often depict figures in a state of change and movement.

The exhibition will showcase Misheck’s distinctive expressionist approach, reflecting his deep exploration of power structures, history, and the contemporary world. His use of rhythmic lines and rich layers of colour serves as a powerful language to examine the intersections of culture and identity in Africa, contributing to the ongoing decolonial discourse.
With a significant international presence, Masamvu has participated in various exhibitions around the world, including the 54th Venice Biennale, the Sydney Biennale, and the Bienal de São Paulo. His works are part of prestigious collections such as the Perez Art Museum in Miami and the Taguchi Art Collection in Tokyo.
