The Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture in South Africa has introduced the first-ever Cultural and Creative Industry Awards. These awards aim to celebrate and honour the best creative talents in the country, recognizing their positive impact on nation-building projects and their ability to inspire others.
According to Minister Zizi Kodwa, the awards are designed to uplift and support the cultural and creative expressions that bring people together, enrich communities, and contribute to a vibrant nation.
They also play a part as a platform to benchmark South Africa’s creative achievements against global standards, creating a special moment for the industry.

The Cultural and Creative Industry Awards seek to become the most prestigious recognition in the South African creative sector, honouring top creatives across various categories for their exceptional artistic and technical skills.
These awards highlight individuals who demonstrate a commitment to excellence, innovation, and quality in their respective fields.
Furthermore, the awards are not only a celebration of creativity but also a driver of economic growth and social cohesion, fostering collaboration between the cultural, media, and corporate sectors.

The awards consist of eight categories and 30 awards, with the winners being selected and announced by the Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture.
Among the categories are the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing individuals with significant contributions to the industry over 20 years, and the Internationally Recognized Artist or Group Award, honoring those who have achieved international acclaim for their work.
