This Women’s month, Kim Jayde, multi-award winning television host, blogger, model and Managing Director of KJ Productions, curated #KimInstameet.
It was an intimate and beautiful experience for a handful of selected Instagrammers who continued to create and inspire with their content creation throughout lockdown.
#KimsInstameet took seven exceptional instagrammers (@queenofjozi, @carissacupido @sarakapay, @the_goldenrose, @leddi_g, @hey_kudisco and @victoriaolivern) away from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg to a secret location (Ganico Organic Farm) to create and collaborate.
The ladies celebrated seven phenomenal and proudly African Fashion Designers (Mantsho, JJ Schoeman, Parooz, DFlo Apparel, Erre, Sun Goddess and Bam Collective) who all provided garments from their collections and online stores for the guests to wear and shoot in.
Latoya West, a professional make-up artist, was also on location, to “beat their faces” so they were picture perfect.
“After several years working in the industry as a model, then as a television host, I saw a true need for more diversity in the production space,” Kim commented.
“I had great ideas and had come to know incredibly talented young photographers, videographers and editors. Thus KJ Productions was born – so as young African creatives, we could tell authentic stories, execute amazing campaigns and now curate beautiful experiences.”
A buffet lunch was served before guests foraged through the farm, learning about organic farming in the area while customising their drinks with lavender, granadillas and other edible flowers grown on the farm.
As glamorous as the day was, what’s most important was that the ladies had an open, honest round table discussion with no cameras allowed. This touched on everything from gender based violence, to the patriarchal system and industry which they all lived and worked in.
To close, the guests went around the group complimenting and uplifting each other with words of praise (something us ladies do not do enough).
Kim added: “Ultimately it was a beautiful day out of the city, which left the women inspired and empowered. This is the first of many intimate curated experiences, as KJ Productions expands to do so much more than brand campaigns.”
