New Balance is expanding its collection with a new shoe: the 1906 Loafer. This take on the classic penny loafer keeps the features of the 1906L silhouette while adding a modern touch.
The 1906 Loafer will be available in South Africa starting February 28, 2025, in two stylish colour options: sleek black and rich oak.
The 1906 Loafer is designed with a smooth leather upper, giving it a sophisticated look. It includes an Ortholite® insole that provides cushioning for all-day wear, a lightweight EVA foam midsole for support, and a durable rubber outsole for good traction. This makes the loafer perfect for both work settings and casual outings.

The New Balance 1906 Loafer has sparked mixed reactions on social media, but many people are excited about its design. The latest version moves away from its streetwear roots and embracing a more formal style. The rich brown suede upper is complemented by black accents, creating a contrast that appeals to those who prefer a traditional look.
Despite its new formal aesthetic, the 1906L includes geometric overlays on the sides and back, reminiscent of its 1906R lineage. A new stitched forefoot cup wraps around the toe, adding to the loafer’s high-fashion appeal.
