Terence Maluleke, a visual developer and fine artist, is making waves in the art world with his latest series of paintings. Having collaborated with big names such as Walt Disney Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Animation, and Netflix, Maluleke, is now set showcase his work at Southern Guild’s booth at Expo Chicago.
His new works into Christian iconography through the lens of a Black man, offering a fresh perspective on familiar themes. One of his standout pieces, ‘My Buried Jesus II’.

Draws inspiration from the Christian concept of the Stations of the Cross, depicting a Black man levitating in a somber suit, symbolising the resurrection of Jesus.
Another striking piece, ‘Swallowed’, reflects Terence’s personal journey with faith and human vulnerability. In this painting, a Black man grapples with his Christian identity as his crown slips down his face, representing the weight of belief and the potential for spiritual confusion.
