The air at Stadio’s Hatfield and Randburg campuses is buzzing with excitement as sewing machines hum, model castings take place, and final styling decisions are made. The outstanding nature of what has been stitched together in 2023 is acknowledged by both students and staff.
Under the guidance of Umzingeli Productions and led by Jan Malan, students from various programs will showcase their creations to industry experts, friends, family, and fashion enthusiasts.The first-year BA in Fashion (Design Specialization) students have transformed the ordinary uniform into over 30 unique renditions, showcasing their bespoke, utilitarian, adventurous, and universally curious designs.
In the second year, students are redefining the traditional dress shirt, exploring 40 creative options. Known for challenging norms, they have asked themselves, “What does a reimagined Afrofuturist dress shirt embody?” The results are sure to be thought-provoking.
