Strauss & Co is hosting an auction called “Art Rooted in Nature,” which celebrates the deep bond between South African artists and the natural world. The auction will take place in two parts, coinciding with the Herman’s Fynarts Festival 2024 from 7 to 25 June. The collection features artworks that reflect both human and non-human elements found in nature.
Leigh Leyde, the Head of Sale at Strauss & Co, highlights the enduring inspiration that nature provides to South African artists. The artworks in the auction show various aspects of nature, including botanical illustrations, landscapes, coastal scenes, floral still lifes, and garden settings in and around the Cape.
