The 2022 New York Festivals (NYF) TV & Film Awards’ shortlist has been announced and includes two South African entries, in the Best Student Films category, Sorry For Your Loss and The Invisible – both from The Animation School.
The shortlist is across 14 category groups and includes content from around the globe in primetime entertainment, documentaries, investigative journalism, sports coverage, promos, streaming media, and brand image films.
All the film and television entries created by filmmakers and storytellers from 42 countries were judged online by the 2022 TV & Film Awards Grand Jury.
New award
The 2022 NYF TV & Film Awards and WaterBear Network will partner to debut an exclusive new award – the WaterBear Award, honouring the highest scoring documentary across the Climate Change & Sustainability, Environment & Ecology, and Nature & Wildlife categories.

WaterBear Network’s CEO, Ellen Windemuth, TV & Film Awards Advisory Board and executive producer of My Octopus Teacher will select the winner of this newly minted award.
Award-winning entries and the WaterBear Award will be announced during the NYF 2022 Storytellers Gala virtual event taking place on 26 April, and will be showcased on the TV & Film Awards winners gallery.
