The Dalro Visual Arts Merit Award winner was recently announced , artist Tshepo Bopape walked home with the prestigious award. The award aims to support young South African artists in advancing their careers and showcasing their talents to the world.
Tshepo Bopape was recognized for his artistic abilities and has been granted a nine month art residency to further develop his craft.
During this residency, Tshepo will receive a dedicated studio space, financial support for materials and framing, as well as a living allowance. These resources will enable him to fully immerse himself in his art and explore new creative horizons.

As a culmination of his residency, Tshepo will have the opportunity to showcase his works in a solo exhibition scheduled for March 2025.
In addition to Tshepo Bopape, Keabetswe Seema who is a recipient for the Blessing Ngobeni art prize was honoured at the recent exhibition launch. This event was well attended by art lovers and professionals, highlighting the art community in South Africa and sparking conversations around creativity and innovation.

The exhibition, featuring Tshepo’s artworks along with other finalists of the Dalro Visual Arts Merit Award and Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize, will be on display at the JSE from May 15, 2024, to June 24, 2024.
Following this, the exhibition will move to the Dalro Gallery, where it will be open for viewing from June 27, 2024, to July 17, 2024. This showcase promises to be a celebration of talent and a testament to the rich artistic landscape of South Africa.
