The 16th edition of SA Idols is heating up as our favourite Idol, Zama Khumalo fights to survive another week in the competition.
Everyone thought there’s no better week for Zama to show off her talent than on Idols Showstopper Night, which is arguably the most anticipated evening of this singing competition.
However, there was a bit of a twist since Zama performed an international song ‘This Is What You Came For’ by Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna.
Sunday, 8 November everyone said goodbye to Bongi Mntambo, who failed to get enough votes to make it to the Idols SA Top 6. Zama Khumalo performed two songs as she vies for a place in the Top 5.
Zama Khumalo received a lukewarm reception from the judges after performing ‘It’s Your Wedding Day’ by the legendary Brenda Fassie, because of her fear from getting eliminate stopped her from giving the viewers a fired up performance since she was the last contestant to be announced as part of the Top 6. But she certainly did her best to set the stage on fire when she closed off the show and gave it her all, performing ‘Everything I Wanted’ by Billie Eilish.
Unathi said she deserves to be in the finale of Idols SA’s Season 16 and Somizi was impressed and said it was exactly what he expected.
“The show is getting more exciting by the week and like all the other fans, I am enjoying watching the contestants evolve as talented performers. It is clear that they are stars in the making,” said Nomsa Philiso, director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.
Now it is up you to get Zama Khumalo to take the stage again next week as part of the Idols Top 5.
