HONOR Technology has started the year with exciting news by announcing the winner of the HONOR Talents: Global Design Awards, in partnership with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). This initiative aims to empower young creatives and showcase their talents on a global stage.
The call for entries in South Africa encouraged young artists to participate through an information session and a social media campaign. HONOR Talents, established in 2020, is dedicated to supporting youth and discovering new talents in various fields. It currently hosts two competitions: the Global Design Award and the Voice Maker Original Music Award.

The Global Design Award attracted over 9,000 participants worldwide from May to September 2024. Among these, the Middle East and Africa region contributed 53 submissions, including an entry from Zilungile Hanise, a 32-year-old artist from Gqeberha. Hanise impressed the judges with her artwork and was awarded the Judges’ Choice Award, making her the first South African to receive this honour.
Hanise expressed her joy at winning, saying, “I’m really happy to be recognized. Working closely with HONOR this year, I’m hoping that a lot of growth will come from this.” Her victory serves as an inspiration for young artists in ,Mzansi, especially those in her hometown of Gqeberha.
As part of her prize, Hanise’s artwork will be featured on HONOR brand products for a year, with a portion of the sales proceeds going directly to her. Additionally, she will have the opportunity to play the role of judge at the Global Design Awards in 2025.

Fred Zhou, CEO of HONOR Technology South Africa, shared his pride in the results of the awards. He stated, “I’m extremely proud that South Africa is well represented at such a large scale. As a brand, we believe in investing in the talents of young people and showcasing how art and technology can come together to create lasting products.”
