H&M Move is working with the organisation ActivateHer to help girls in communities in Cape Town. ActivateHer is located in Khayelitsha and focuses on providing girls aged 3 to 14 with opportunities to participate in sports and activities. These girls come from backgrounds where they might not have access to such opportunities, so ActivateHer aims to break gender stereotypes and empower them through sports.
The partnership with ActivateHer is part of H&M Move’s community program called Move Together, which helps young people experience the benefits of physical, mental and social well-being through group activities. This program aims to help young individuals overcome challenges and feel like they belong while participating in activities together.

Adele Bruggeman, the director of ActivateHer, is excited about partnering with H&M Move. She believes it’s a great opportunity to introduce more girls to sports tailored to their needs. The collaboration will also help expand the community-based coaching staff, creating more female role models for equity and health in the community.
Nadia Nadim, an international football player and H&M Brand Mover, supports this partnership. She recently visited Cape Town to meet with the girls and coaches at ActivateHer. Nadia shared her story and engaged in activities with the girls, aiming to boost their confidence and show them that they can succeed despite any obstacles. She was inspired by the girls’ strength and hopes to inspire them in return.
