One notable aspect of Bowale’s work is his collaboration with author Tokelo Hlagala, whose short stories have influenced the exhibition. By incorporating text from the story “For Whom The Bell Tolls” into his drawings, Bowale creates a unique blend of visual and literary art.
The project, which has been in the making for a while, traces its roots back to Bowale’s residency at the Pretoria Art Museum’s Kopanong Art Studio. The upcoming formal opening on 18 May 2024 will feature a reading by Hlagala, adding another layer of depth to the exhibition.
