The eleventh edition of August Art Month will run from 1st to 31st August 2024, featuring a curated exhibition titled (On)bekend / (Un)known. This exhibition will showcase a collection of modern and contemporary art from the Kilbourn family, highlighting lesser-known and under-estimated artists alongside some unusual works by renowned artists like Cathy Abrahams, Norman Catherine, Willem Boshoff, and more.
Frank Kilbourn, chairperson of Strauss & Co, expressed his excitement about the exhibition, emphasizing the theme of exploring unfamiliar art and shifting perceptions. To enhance visitors’ experience, Frank will conduct ticketed public walkabouts on select dates throughout August, touching on subjects such as walking into what makes an artist recognizable and how unfamiliar works can change public perception.
