Emerging artists have until 16 October to submit an original song for the ACCES 2026 Emerging Artist Spotlight Competition, where the winner will receive a R35,000 promotional package.
The competition, which is open to artists who perform any genre of music, has been organised by the Music In Africa Foundation.

Those shortlisted will get the chance to perform their music to radio professionals from Kaya FM, VOW 88.1, Ukhozi FM and StaFM, who will give feedback at a workshop during ACCES in Johannesburg on 29 and 30 October. This is a unique opportunity for emerging artists to get tips on what radio professionals are looking for when considering music for playlisting.
What the winner gets
The prize package, which is provided by Music In Africa, is not in cash but consists of a promotional suite that includes studio recording time, a promotional video, publicity and possible playlisting support.

For an emerging artist, the value of the prize is significant, not only because of the production support it includes, but also because of the in-depth industry feedback that comes with it. The shortlisted artists will benefit from direct interaction with radio professionals, including an insight into what goes into their decision-making process around playlisting.
Who can apply?
Artists who perform any genre can apply. However, a few criteria must be met. They must submit one original song in MP3 format, less than 10MB in size. They must be registered for ACCES 2026 and be available to attend the conference in Johannesburg, where the competition takes place on 29 and 30 October.
The deadline for registration for the competition is 16 October 2026.
ACCES itself takes place in Johannesburg from 28 to 31 October. It provides a networking and business platform for African and international music creators, publishers, promoters, managers, buyers, media, labels and more. It is expected to draw more than 700 delegates from over 45 countries in 2026.
In the lead up to the conference, the Spotlight Competition provides an important opportunity for emerging artists to get their music in front of radio professionals, get feedback on their music, and potentially win support to promote their work.
