FNB Art Joburg is back for its 17th edition at the Sandton Convention Centre from September 6 to 8, 2024. This event is a key highlight on the continent’s contemporary art and culture calendar, supporting African artist and creatives both locally and in the diaspora.
In an effort to grow and sustain the art ecosystem, FNB Art Joburg is introducing a new selection called GIF (Galley Image Format), dedicated to showcasing photographers and various lens-based media, including static and animated images.
This addition aims to provide a platform for artists to showcase their work and foster a culture of appreciation and empowerment.

The fair will feature six specialized sections – Gallery HUB, gallery LAB, MAX GIF, ETC, AUX and ORG – highlighting renowned galleries, emerging artists and institutions from across Africa. additionally, the event will kick off with the BMW Art Generation, supported by FNB, on August 31, featuring a conference, exhibitions, performances and more.
Managing Director of FNB Art Joburg, Mandla Sibeko, emphasized the fair’s commitment to supporting various aspects of the art ecosystem throughout the year, promoting economic growth, inclusivity, and access for all.

Open City 2024, running from August 29 to September 13, will activate Johannesburg with art, music, food, and fashion, inviting visitors and residents to immerse themselves in the city’s cultural offerings.
