South African Fashion week (SAFW) is gearing up for its most sustainable season yet, with a focus on responsible fashion production and a commitment to a non-toxic industry. Taking place at the Mall of Africa from 18-20 April 2024, the event will showcase top local design talent who specialise in sustainable fabrics and promoting quality over quantity.
Director Lucilla Booyzen highlights the support from key retailers like Mr Price and sponsors such as Cruz Vodka and L’Oréal Paris South Africa as crucial in driving this towards sustainability in the fashion industry.

SAFW will kick off with the Mr Price New Talent Search, featuring emerging designers like Cyla Gonsalves alongside a lineup of fresh talent. The show will also include The Cruz Collective show, featuring established and up-and-coming designers, as well as the Isuzu Luxury Collections show and collaborations with international partners like the Italian Embassy and Mozambique Fashion Week.

Industry icons like Jacques van der Watt of Black Coffee and designers like Lezanne Viviers and Helen Gibbs will showcase their latest collections, emphasizing craftsmanship and creativity. The event will culminate in a grand finale featuring a tribute to women’s empowerment by leading beauty house, L’Oréal Paris.
SAFW aims to foster regional and international collaborations to promote a responsible and sustainable fashion industry. By sharing skills and insights with designers from Mozambique and beyond, SAFW is working towards a clean fashion future that extends beyond borders.
