Karabo Poppy has created a new mural in Braamfontein, adding acreative touch to the streets of Braam. The mural, painted on the front of Cheeky’s, was revealed during the launch of Blxckie’s latest single, South.
What makes this mural stand out is the story behind it. Karabo Poppy used her signaturestyle to reflect Blxckie’s rise from his hometown in Durban to becoming an internationally recognized artist. The artwork blends real-life elements with symbolic imagery, encouraging people to look deeper and find meaning in every detail.

Creating this piece came with its own set of challenges. Unlike a traditional flat wall, the building had several windows, which forced Karabo to rethink her usual approach. Instead of one large image, she designed individual illustrations that worked with the structure, making the entire building part of the artwork. She also took advantage of the open space at the top, adding more depth and movement to the mural.
For Karabo, this project was more than just another painting—it was a chance to leave a mark in one of South Africa’s most creative hubs. Speaking about the experience, she shared how honoured she felt to contribute to the growing art scene in Braamfontein. She believes the area is filled with potential for art that can make an impact, and being part of that movement is something she holds close to her heart.
